Swedish beauty company, Oriflame
Cosmetics, has announced the appointment of three renowned Eastafrican
celebrities as brand ambassadors. The three Lady Jaydee, Juliana
Kanyomozi and Jamila Mbugua, will represent the Oriflame brand in
Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya respectively.
The partnership is in line with
the company’s growth strategy underlined by growing its East Africa
sales force and expansion to other African markets. The strategy is
anchored on four main pillars including network marketing, world class
service, brands & products and people and culture.
Oriflame East Africa Managing
Director, Mr. Klas Kronaas, expressed delight that the East African
operation had brought on board authentic brand evangelists who are as
passionate about the brand as the company is to nature inspired beauty
products.
“Lady Jaydee , Juliana and
Jamila have been named because their style and approach to beauty is the
ideal representation for the Oriflame brand. They are strong and
talented women who many people across East Africa readily identify
with,” said Kronaas.
Oriflame East Africa Head of
Marketing and Sales Support, Mr. Harry Njagi said the three brand
ambassadors will feature in Oriflame’s Catalogue, and will also be
engaged in selected brand events to represent the Oriflame brand
throughout the year. The partnership will also extend to joint CSR
activities with the celebrities.
“Our products - inspired by
nature are very popular with women of all ages across East Africa,
especially owing to the fact that we have the widest range in personal
care and the signing of these three passionate women is expected to
deepen our market access and increase our brand visibility,” said Mr.
Njagi.
Lady Jaydee is one of the best
known female artistes in East Africa and was among the first to sing R
& B in Swahili. She has won over 6 Best Female Awards at the
prestigious Tanzania Music Awards and many other Awards in the region
including collaboration of the year 2011 (Nitafanya) with Kidum and also
2008 (Anita) with Matonya.
She has also recorded with a
number of artists including Samba Mapangala (Congo), Chameleone
(Uganda), Mad Ice (Uganda / Tanzania), and Mina Nawe (South Africa)
amongst others. She is married to Times FM presenter Gardner Habbash.
Uganda’s Juliana is a well known
musician, actress and entertainer who has, since 2009, graced East
African TV screens as one of the Judges of Tusker Project Fame. She
collaborated with Bobi Wine on songs such as: "Taata Wa Baana Yaani?"
(Who is the Father of her Kids?) and "Maama Mbiire". She also worked
with Sweet Kid on the track "Sirinaayo Mulala" (I don't have anyone
else) and with Klear Kut on the song "All I Wanna Know".
Kenya’s Jamila Mbugua is a TV
personality, who has worked for various TV stations in Kenya for over 10
years and currently runs a popular show on K24.
Oriflame, which celebrated its 5th
anniversary last December, has designated the next 3 years as a period
of rapid growth as the company consolidates its East African operations
and plans to expand to other African markets.
