Manchester United 3-3 Basel
Young headed in a Nani cross to salvage a point in stoppage time Ashley Young headed his first Champions League goal in stoppage time as Manchester United salvaged a draw.
Danny Welbeck put United in charge with two goals in as many first-half minutes from a pair of Ryan Giggs passes.
Fabian Frei crashed a rebound in off a post before Alexander Frei headed in Fabian Frei's far-post cross.
Alexander Frei then netted from the penalty spot after Marco Streller had been fouled by Antonio Valencia but Young rescued United from Nani's cross.
The Swiss side started brightly with strikers Streller and Alexander Frei linking cleverly on the edge of the area but captain Streller failed to get his shot away.
Fabian Frei was then played in by Streller but slashed wildly over the top before United created their first chance.
Young - making his Champions League debut - sent in a devilish cross from the left but Valencia made a mess of his header at the far post.
Welbeck snuck in ahead of goalkeeper Yann Sommer to hook a shot wide as United stepped up a gear.
And Welbeck opened the scoring in the 16th minute.
Fabio broke into the area and drilled a cross into the middle which Giggs laid off to Welbeck eight yards out. The striker fluffed his left-foot shot but got enough on the ball to find the far corner.
And just 60 seconds later Welbeck made it 2-0.
Giggs picked out a fine pass from the left channel and Welbeck ghosted in behind centre-half Aleksandar Dragovic to side-foot confidently past Sommer.
Basel wasted great chances to reply through Alexander Frei and Streller but finally found the net in the 59th minute. David De Gea made another smart save to keep out a Streller header but Fabian Frei was quickest to react and crashed in a left-footed shot off the far post.
Rio Ferdinand was then fortunate not to see a card when he slipped and took down Alexander Frei on the edge of the area.
Basel had every right to feel aggrieved at the decision but they were level just a minute later. Fabian Frei got in behind Patrice Evra to deliver a wicked cross which namesake Alexander headed powerfully back across De Gea and into the top corner.
Basel were then handed a penalty with 15 minutes left when Valencia felled Streller and Alexander Frei smashed it into the top corner to complete a stunning turnaround.
