Information Technology and Building Maintainance Assistant
Introduction: general information about the context in which the official will work
The ILO Country Office in Dar es Salaam covers Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda.
The Office implements the mandate of the ILO within the sub-region, including the delivery of technical cooperation in collaboration with other ILO technical departments and social partners in the four countries. The office continues to provide, at national level, technical guidance and institutional capacity building support to the Government and social partners to achieve the goal of decent work for all through a combination of integrated policy, programme and advocacy action. The ILO currently seeks to recruit a highly qualified, motivated, and experienced Information Technology and Building Maintenance Assistant with a demonstrated and proved track record for their office in Dar es Salaam.
The IT and Building Assistant will work closely with the ILO team in Dar es Salaam, Nairobi, Kigali and Kampala to assist in various IT related tasks in the offices, supporting Technical cooperation (TC) projects .
The candidate will be based in Dar es Salaam. S/he will report directly to the Finance Officer in Dar es Salaam and work under the overall supervision of the country Director.
Summary of main duties and responsibilities:
Information technology - Install, maintain and upgrade, computer hardware equipment, computerized information systems, local area network services, electronic mail systems and software packages to ensure smooth operations and effective use of the computer equipment and network services. responsible for providing technical, procedural and record-keeping support converting electronic information into web pages Provide user level technical support for end users, computers, printers, scanners, faxes and network equipments. Manages the ILO systems and provide user level technical support for end users, computers, printers, scanners, faxes and network equipments. Implements a preventive maintenance programme on all computer hardware and related equipment.(Printers, scanners, faxes and networking equipments)
Provide user level level training on daily applications used, including, but not limited to: MS Word, MS Excel, Email system, MS Publisher, Adobe Acrobat, a and the basic computer related skills. On advice by relevant authority, upon termination of staff will ensure that the individual passwords of all staff ceasing employment are retrieved and inactivated. Responsible for handling the service providers, Telephone support, and other related service providers. Handle the the Internet service provider and ensure that the internet is always in working condition. Advise management on all IT related matters including procurement of equipment and related services. Ensure on daily basis that the schedule for the server data backup system is working smoothly and other scheduled tasks are running. Participate in meetings and activities aimed at improving service levels to the office. Adapt and implement the new computerised information systems and technologies provided by the regional office and/or HQ. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Building -Maintenance Coordinates building maintenance and repairs with Buildings & Grounds Maintenance that affect normal building operation Provides staff with updates of electrical, water and other service outages and scheduled shutdowns Coordinates building security Stays informed of changes to space assignments in their facilities Assist in the development and implementation of office emergency plans During evacuations, assists emergency response teams in assessing building condition, locating missing personnel, shutting off utilities, and delivering a status report to assembly point leader Coordinate and assist with the procurement and contract management of all building related services provider such as AC, generator, lift etc;<< BOFYA HAPA KU APPLY>>
